Modesty tips

I’d like to offer some modesty tips from time to time. One great tip I have I heard from a dance friend: cut up old tights and use them as longsleeve tops! Here’s how you do it:

1) Buy a pair of tights, or find a pair of old ones (footless work best)

2) Turn them upside-down. The legs of the tights will be the sleeves. If your tights aren’t footless, cut the feet off now. Cut another hole for the head.

3) Try it on. If it fits, seal the edges off with clear nail polish.

These can be worn under leotards, t-shirts….tons of things! I sometimes use them to cover up my back in low back leotards, so there’s no low back. Other times, they cover my shoulders and arms. You can also buy sheer tops (the same thing, only pre-done and longer torso) at dancewearsolutions.com.

Well, I just checked back on the website, thinking of doing some updates. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend the time, however – that is, until I saw that there were 30 hits on 12/7/08! I hope God is really using this website. If this website has helped you, feel free to comment!

After four hours, I have finally finished updating the Dancewear Directory. I’ve changed the names of some of the catagories (“Costumes – tops and pants” became “Jazz/Tap/Hip-Hop Costumes”), added TONS of items in all catagories, added a new catagory (“Liturgical”), and listed the colors available next to each item. Phew! Well, that was fun!!

Well, I was just reading a great book called For Young Women Only, and it has a terrific chapter on modesty. It’s written by Shaunti Feldlhahn and Lisa A. Rice, and it’s a must-have. I thought ya’ll’d like to know.

Many dancewear companies have come out with their fall fashions. Dancewear Solutions has become more conservative with their online storefront lately, but they’re still not doing the greatest. No news as to their catalog, I don’t recieve it. I do recieve the Discount Dancewear catalog, and it’s absolutely…..ich. I don’t even want to think about it. I threw it out without even peeking inside. AllAboutDance.com has a really neat storefront - totally conservative. Their website may be unprofessional, but their dancewear has taken a step toward the conservative side this year (some is still not acceptable to wear, however).
